Rosedale/Moore Park is an upscale, mature, family-friendly neighbourhood originally designed to take advantage of the natural ravine landscape to create an island of calm close to the heart of the city. Designed at the turn of the century with wide, tree-lined streets and larger lots, many of the stately original homes were built before 1930 in the English Cottage, Georgian and Tudor styles of the times, now mixed with newer custom homes.

The neighbourhood is perfect for nature enthusiasts — winding ravine paths take residents to the famous Evergreen Brick Works and refurbished Lower Don Trail, and the tranquil winding paths of Mount Pleasant Cemetery connect residents to the Beltline Trail.

The neighbourhood has some of Toronto’s best public and private schools and family-friendly destinations. Moorevale Park has five outdoor tennis courts, a lawn bowling green, wading pool, playground, sports field and a baseball diamond.

Despite being tucked away, Rosedale/Moore Park is one of Toronto’s most conveniently located neighbourhoods, with easy access to transit, a quick downtown commute via the Bayview Avenue Extension, and easy access to the Don Valley Parkway.

Retail destinations include Yonge Street, St. Clair Avenue, and Bloor Street and the boutiques, gourmet food shops and restaurants of Mount Pleasant Road and Bayview Avenue.

As early as 1933, records show the Moore Park neighbourhoods had adopted a constitution to support a local community association, including a community centre. Providing close-to-home social, recreational and extra-curricular activities for the local children was the impetus behind a community centre. And this was considered forward-thinking, as community centres weren’t an integral part of North American society until the post-war years. Moore Park, North Rosedale and South Rosedale were distinctly separate residents’ groups prior to 1939, but community-mindedness prevailed when the residents agreed to work together, creating the Rosedale-Moore Park Community Council in 1946.

Homes in Moore Park are charming English Cottage, Georgian and Tudor Style, built on mostly large lots. The homes on the more exclusive streets have more generous lots, and dedicated driveways. Although it is an affluent neighbourhood, some of the homes have shared driveways. But the streets are planned well and are not very busy, which allows for accessible street parking when needed. Many of the homes back onto ravines that skirt the neighbourhood. There are a few townhomes throughout the area, and custom homes are growing in numbers as well. Residents appreciate the proximity to nature and the easy commute to the downtown core.
